Firefighter Daring Rescue Of Missing Yorkie

AUSTIN, Texas — A small dog was rescued from a storm drain by firefighters in downtown Austin on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a post on the Austin Fire Department’s Facebook page, the A-shift crew from Engine 13 were sent to save the Yorkie pup, who became trapped n the drain at the corner of Brazos and 5th Street.

Firefighters were able to access the dog by prying open a manhole cover and returned the puppy to it’s owner, who told the AFD crew the she saw the Yorkie had fallen out of the truck as she was helping her father exit the vehicle from the passenger side.

The owner said she had inadvertently left the driver’s side door open, and the puppy lost its balance after jumping up onto the driver’s seat before tumbling into the storm drain.

Firefighters say the dog had no obvious injuries.
